Not really since in this situation there could be a positive pressure created by the water coming down the stack and an air admittance valve cannot relieve positive pressure. : Sounds like a good application for an in-line vent under the sink if you have room and if your local code will permit it. Go to www.oatey.com and look at air admittance valves under the product menu.
