: As part of the bathroom I am installing in the basement, I was wondering how do I test the new plumbing? I am cutting into the main building drain, so it seems to me that I could water or air test each of the branch waste lines that connect to the building drain. How does one test the system as a whole once of the branch waste lines is connected to the building drain before I cover everything up?

We leave the test tee's in. Your sink drain needs to be 2". If you run your vents 1 1/2" you won't be able to get a 2" drain cleaning head down through the roof to clean your line.

: I have heard of test tees for testing the branch lines, but is the test tee left in place after the test? In my case, the test tee will be horizontal and probably in the middle of the bathroom floor. It doesn't seem to make sense to leave it in, but what do I know.
