: The washer drain hose just hooks over the open end of a 2" drain pipe, so it doesn't need a separate vent. It does require a P-trap to block sewer gas.
You do need a vent to allow the water to displace the air so that the water will drain out. It's like turning a pop bottle upside down. If you can't get vent through the roof run your vent up as high as you can and install an Auto-vent.
