In response to Re: shower base
: I just purchased a neo-angle shower kit; the base appears to rest quite solidly when on a level floor.
: Is it neccesary to lay down a bed of mortar prior to installing the base? Also, is it best to lay down the base on top of finished flooring or on an unfinished floor? This is to be installed in a basement bath, and I am having a plumber do the DWV system; once the rough-in is complete, I will cover with concrete and install the shower myself...

doing the same thing in my basement, just did the concrete today!! the base goes right on the floor,as long as it is relatively level. (if you know the manufacturer they probably have a website with a PDF file for installation). as far as i know it doesn't matter, if the floor is finished with something like vct tile you shouldn't have a problem. i did the rough in myself, no fun, the hardest part was lining up the waste trap with the shower base. good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
