You could have just started a crack, if so, tightening it will make it worse. There is no rason why they could not need extra tightening, but there is also no good reason why they should.

: Wouldn't a cracked faucet leak more than I described so a simple tightening may stop the leak? Would I be able to bottom out the connection if it is cracked when I try to tighten in an attempt to stop the leak? I guess I am still wondering if it isn't out of the ordinary for this one of four connections to require an extra turn or two.
