Sorry about the false post, hit the wrong key. Margaret, the only way to fix this problem so that it doesn't come back to haunt you is to do it right the first time. If this sewer line has been in existance for 90 plus years, it's way over due for replacement. There are companies that can install a new line without digging a huge trench. They use special machinery to break up the old line and feed in the new. I'm sure it's costly, but in the long run it's poroably cheaper than digging the trench.
