| In response to Re: Water Softener Leak - Threaded Plastic to Brass Connection | |
|
: I am installing a WaterBoss 900 water softener. I have all the pipes ready to go except for one leak. The "out" connection from the softener leaks. The softener has plastic male threads and I'm attempting to attach a female brass fitting. I've tried plumbers tape and pipe joint compound and neither seems to work. I think I have damaged the plastic threads a little. : What is a sure fire way to connect a plastic to brass threaded connection without a leak? Keep in mind the plastic threads are worn a bit. : Thank you. : Torrey Damaged threads of any type material are at best difficult to stop from leaking. Plastic is all buy impossible but, try 6-7 wraps of tape. But first run the brass on a copper male 4-5 times with no tape to clean or straighten any damage to the brass female threads. |
