You need to replace the hot & cold stems and seats of the shower valve. Some plumbers will tell you only to tighten the packing nut on the hot stem (which may stop the leak), but when leaking starts, it is wise to refurbish the entire shower valve.
You need a seat extractor tool and deep sockets (cow bells) to remove seats/stems.
You might want to call a plumber and watch him do it - best way to learn for the next time...
