|In response to Re: Soldering Brass Closet Flange|
: I am replacing the lead bend and joining with a fernco coupling at the brass ferrule. I need a tight radius which I cannot obtain using pvc or cast iron.
: Just need to know how to prepare the brass flange and if anything needed to be done with the lead prior to soldering and if there is any concern overheating the lead bend..
You can get the lead too hot and melt it. You need to tin the flange by flux and soldering on a coating of solder. The lead must be cut and shiny then fluxed. Put your heat on the brass and melt the additional solder into the joint just touching the lead.
