|In response to Re: Soldering Brass Closet Flange|
I am a bit confused, since if you have the ability to replace a lead bend, which can be a daunting process at times, soldering the flange would be a simple process in comparision. Clean the lead and the flange, flux the two pieces, and then use 50/50 solder to join them.
: I am replacing a leaking/deteriorated lead closet bend with a new lead bend. What is the proper way to solder the top of the lead bend to the brass flange? Is there any special preparation required for the brass and lead to bond the solder? Also, what type of solder should be used for this?
