If the wetness only occurs when the shower is in use it could be you have a leak in the wall.
It could be the threaded joint where the shower arm screws into the "drop ear 90" (the threaded elbow inside the wall) If that is the case, water would drip from there and splash on to the base of the inside wall and seep thru the grout.
It could also be a leaky copper joint from the shower valve hot/cold/shower outlets.
I would cut open the drywall behind the valve area, turn the shower on and observe...
