I have an older home with a well and galvanized mainline. I'm receiving a lot of sediment in my faucets and appliances, primarily rust, yet the well pipe is fairly new. Knowing I need to filter, I found a good location to install shortly after the pressure tank and main shutoff. My question is, can I remove the 4' section of steel pipe and incorporate my inline filter, shutoffs, and CPVC piping back into this section? Are there CPVC fittings that apply to steel unions, or is this not recommended?
