I'm sure it's threaded. It would be wise to attack it at the threaded end so you can use two wrenches to avoid twisting the copper pipe if the threads are really tight. You might get lucky and have the threads turn out OK, but you'll still need to get to the inside to start the threads and tighten the valve.
