The whole faucet valve assembly might be loose. Typically, there is a way to unscrew the valve assembly so that the internal sealing components can be replaced. It sounds like this has come loose. Look a little deeper into the wall where the cold faucet comes out. Do you see another hex-headed piece inside? Does this hex turn when you turn the faucet? If so, you need to tighten the hex, probably with a deep socket wrench.
: my handle fell off the cold water control. The plastic outer piece was on a metal piece that turns and the metal piece has a square head that fit in the plastic handle. The metal pin with the square head just spins loosely. I can't turn water on or off because it is loose in any direction it turns. How do I fix this?
