Illustrations, in any book, show the ideal. Pipes are attached to the joists in most installations. You can use plastic pipe anchors which have a spacer built in. The reason for the spacer is to minimize potential expansion and water flow noises. : Is there a reason you shouldn't run copper lines against a joists? In plumbing books I've seen, they always use blocks between joists. : Thanks : Rob
