: I am remodeling a bathroom and considering replacing the bathtub while I am at it. The current tub is 30 years old and not in the greatest shape--a little scratched on the bottom and damaged places at both ends on the front that probably happened when the house was being built. The bathroom is upstairs so the weight of cast iron could pose a problem. But, I am reading some negative things about Americast tubs. How long have they been out there and how are they holding up? Thanks.

Mary,
Cast Iron would work fine upstairs.
It's a bit harder to install, but doable.

Americast will chip easier than cast iron.
It's a bit nice than the plain steel tubs though. Terry
