I use children's bubble liquid since it sticks to the pipe longer to give a better chance if locating the leak. You should also not use a chlorinated dish soap, since it can have an adverse affect on the copper tubing.
: You might check with your local gas company or with a gas appliance installer. These air testers are always used to check gas installations. To check for very small leaks, use liquid dishwashing soap on every joint. Even the tiniest leak will bubble.
