: I have a Kohler low flow toilet (no I don't know model or gallons). Its 7 years old. Lately, it seems to periodically sound like its flushing. There seems to also be a slow drip of water into the bowl too. The black float on the big tube seems to go down by itself when this happens sorta letting it start to flush. The white flapper - I tried cleaning this off with a paper towel thinking it had dirt on it but that didn't help. Can I fix it? Do I need a whole new assembly or is it something simple? I'm not a plumber - Peggy

It sounds like the flapper is leaking.
Sometimes replacing with a new one is the answer. Check to see if the seal is smooth where the flapper sets.
When water leaves the tank, it will continue to refill.
