Hi I'm looking at adding a half bath in our basement. My wife is against the built up "throne" idea, so I'm between breaking up the slab or installing a rear exit toilet. I think the rear exit option would be cheaper and easier than the break the slab and dig option. I can access the waste line where it enters the slab not far from where I want the bath to be. I've never installed a rear exit toilet before, so I'm looking for any advice on installation and what brand/model toilets are available. If I cut the (3"?) plastic waste line just high enough to install a "T", would that be too high to use a rear exit toilet? I'm thinking a wall hung would be better because it would let me decide on the floor after the rough in. Would I need to do a 2x6 or 2x8 wall to do a wall hung toilet? I'm thinking the commercial look with the flushometer might be nice. Could I hide a captive air tank near by for this trick? Thanks Barry |
