Since you would have to make the connection under the toilet's connection, the only way you could do it would be to install a new vent for the shower drain.
: I'm installing a new shower in a different location from the old bathtub. If I try to utilize the existing 2" drain line connection to the main drain that the old tub used the toilet drain line is in the way. Is it allowable to install a Y in the 3" toilet drain and connect the 2" shower drain there. Then I can just cap the old tub drain.
