Toilet pipes slam upon flush and fill complete
Posted by RSMBob on December 13, 2002 at 16:15:39:
Hi Terry and others,

I just replaced the stuff inside the toilet tank with one of the newer American Standard yellow mechanisms (w/o the float ball). I've done this in our 2 other bathrooms with no problem.

The installation went fine, and I believe I've got he water slevel set right and all, but now when we flush the toilet, there is a loud noise shortly after flushing, and when the tank fills and shuts off, another loud noise, like the water pipes are slamming shut. Do I maybe have the water pressure too high or too low? WHat else might cause this and how can I fix it?

Thanx for any and all advice and happy holidays.
