|In response to Re: Connecting pvc to cast iron|
: We are adding a half bath by extending the drain from a cleanout on a cast iron T. It looks like it is packed with lead (& probably oakum is my understanding). It did have a plug on it (roughly 3 1/2 inches in diameter), but when we tried to get it off, the square head of the plug came off in the pipe wrench. Are we forced to get rid of the lead/oakum and use a Fernco boot? If so, what would be the best way to get rid of the lead? Melt it with a propane torch or drill/cut?
: Thanks! --Robert
