: : when i run the washing machine the soapy water comes up under the toilet and in the shower. this only happens when the washing machine is used. the toilet flushes fine and the shower and sinks drain fine. i snaked and flushed the main drainpipe under the house and everything seems to be clear. thought that would solve the problem but it didn't. the washer drains into a standard 2" pipe in the wall of the laundry room. the water doesn't back up out of this pipe as far as i know. i believe everything is vented properly, although i havent checked for obstructions in the vents. i did see daylight when i opened the pipe under the house to clean it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
