soldering copper pipe/water shut off

I am soldering copper pipe in a shower to connect a new shower. I have soldered all connections and turned water on. One connection has a pin hole leak in it. It is the connection between the supply line pipe (which is connected to the water shut off valve for the hot water) and the copper male fitting. My question is do I have to turn off the water to the whole house or just to the the shut off valve for this pipe, the hot water line. There will not be a closed connection because the fitting is to screw on the valve body. So steam will not build up. I have removed the water from the pipe to the shut off valve. thanks if you can help
