Smelly Kitchen drain

We live in a 50 year old home. When we bought the house a new septic system was installed. When our washing machine drains, the drain in the kitchen sink girgles, and then stinks. This is the only drain that does this. Pouring some water down the kitchen drain will remove the smell. The washer is close to the new septic and the kitchen is the furthest away. The vent for the drain is between the washer and the kitchen sink. The pipe for the kitchen drain is steel pipe. Is there anything we can do to eliminate the smell from the sink when the washer drains? Or the girgling?
