The type of pipe, its depth, and the size will be determined by your local building department. The locator wire is for use with a non-metallic pipe, but most approved plastic lines are not sold to uncertified installers, usually.

: I'm installing a 150K BTU gas water heater for a hottub. It will be located several feet away from the house, in a small equipment shed. I need to get gas service to the shed. How to bury gas line? Type of pipe? How deep? I understand I also need to lay down a "locator wire" along side the buried gas line? What type of wire? Anything else to consider? ... Size of the pipe? My gas meter is about 100ft from the equipment shed.
