The sound is probably the pipes expanding. It may also occur as they contract although since it takes longer the noise may not be as apparent. There is no reason to assume it will ever go away by itself. : We recently bought a new construction home. When ever we use the hot water(faucet, tub, dishwasher, washer) we hear a popping sound coming from the hot water pipes. Is this something that will stop with time(after the pipes expand), or is this normal, or is this something that is a problem : Tim
