Your problem can be fixed, but it will require breaking the concrete floor to access the main drain and replumbing the drain. The toilet uses a 3" or 4" drain pipe that goes directly into the main drain line. The center of the flange that the toilet sets on is 12" from the wall that will be behind the toilet. There is no pee trap in the toilet drain line as the trap is built in to the toilet. The shower uses a 2" drain line that has to have a pee trap and comes through the floor where the shower drain will be. It is not a rocket science job, but probably more that most homeowners would be able to take on themselves.
