I hope you can help us with our problem. My husband and I returned from vacation (in Seattle, actually) and discovered that our housesitter accidentally dropped a bar of hand soap into the toilet and then flushed the toilet.
It's been almost a week since this happened. I was hoping the soap would've dissolved by now. Maybe it takes longer than I think.
When you flush the toilet, the water doesn't seem to flow out. The water in the bowl just rises. If we try to plunge it, the water rises and returns to the normal height, but it never empties out of the bowl.
I don't want to contact a plumber just yet. Seems like there should be something more I can do! I poured some liquid draino into the bowl, but it just kind of mixed in with the water in the bowl. Do you have any other ideas? Do you think I should expect that bar of soap to melt away any time soon?
