I am interested in the autocirc act-303-btw retrofit
hot water recirculating pump. It works by pumping the
hot supply into the cold, until hot water starts to show
up and then closes the valve.

Is there a problem uses this, because it seems to me
you are introducing backflow on the cold line. Do you
need some kind of backflow prevent on the branch to the
water heater?
