New tub drain

I am finishing a basement and have a question. There is a shower/tub drain stub in the floor already. We would like a tub, but to place the tub overflow inline with the existing stub out would not allow a tub to fit (concrete wall in the way). If I can move the tub so the stub out comes up between the overflow and the tub drain, it will fit. Is it OK to put a T on the drain stub and put the overflow in one side and the tub drain in the other? The stub would then be between the drain and overflow of the tub.
