Thank you so much hj, Bob, and Gary Swart for answering my question on removing a toilet with rusted bolts and the plastic nuts. You guys are the best! For those wondering, this is the advice they gave. from hj: "Use a 1/2" drill bit and drill down from the top. When it reaches the bolt shanks the seat will separate from the bowl." This worked like a dream! I am so happy to get the seat off! Thank you! from Bob: "I've had this same problem on two separate toilets. In both cases I used a Dremel rotary tool with one of the cutting wheels. This worked great both times but be sure to wear safety goggles as these wheels are prone to flying apart." It was so comforting to know that I wasn't alone in this problem. I hope someday to buy a Dremel rotary tool. They're so cool. I really appreciate the advice to wear safety goggles. I have been wearing them. Thank you. from Gary: "Don't ya hate it when that happens! You have to either cut the bolts or twist them until they break. I have a 4 1/2" grinder that would make short work of them, but since you likely don't have one of them, use a hacksaw to cut them or vise grips to hold them while you turn." For those wondering, this is the advice they gave.
