| In response to Re: Mortar bed for jetted tub? | |
|
: We're installing a Cielo jetted tub by Whirlpool. The instructions say to "...place a bed of gypsum plaster or cement mortar on the floor..." for the tub to sit on. That's all it says. So, how thick a layer should be put down? And is this a dry mix or wet? : Thanks in advance for any help. : John go to your local building supply store and buy a 40 lb bag of mortar like brickmasons use. mix it in a five gallon bucket with a little water and dump in on the floor beneath where you're going to set the tub. spread it around a little and make sure the bottom of the tub will set nicely into the mortar (on bigger tubs you might have to use two bags). i wouldn't recommend the plaster as it is too brittle and will tend to break up and get loose under the tub with use. |
