Any water level switch would be a separate item and not part of the pump. It appears more likely that the pump is going into overload shutdown, possibley due to a failing motor. If so that would turn it off for a short while every so often. : I am on a submersible well system. Recently, we experienced problems when there would suddenly be no pressure in the system. Sometimes it would only be a minute, sometimes several mintues before pressure would return. I checked the breaker and it's fine. I also checked the switch with a volt meter and it is fine, but the pump was not running. Then it would kick on and filthe pressure tank some minutes later.
