If you had air in the lines, you would not have water hammer. You have a bad fill valve in the toilet. Replace it. : When a fawcet is opened while a toilet is flushing my plumbing makes a noise like an air horn. I thought this might be the problem you describe as "air hammer" so I followed your advice and drained the lines. The problem went away for about a day, but then quickly returned to what it had been. Is there something else that needs to be done to eliminate this noise?
