| In response to Re: Cast Iron Tub upstairs | |
![]() : I just went down and bought a new Kohler Mendota cast iron tub and as soon as I got home the plumber called to tell me that I cannot put a cast iron tub on the second floor of my house because the joists cannot handle the weight. The old tub was an acrylic tub. : I looked into the hole where the drain is going and noticed that the joists are 2x10's on what looks to be 16" centers. Too me this sounds very adequate for supporting the new tub. : Please advice. The plumber wants me to get an Americast, but I really want this one if no harm will occur. Matthew,
