In response to Re: whistling plumbing pipes
: : i own a small rental house currently vacant. no water was being used and when i entered the house i could hear a medium pitched "whistle" seemed to originate from the stopped when i turned on an outside hose, then started 10 minutes later...i opened and shut the supply valve to the toilet, etc.and it would stop,etc...i left and came back a day later and the same noise was there again...i have read about noises in a system while the water is running, but in my case all the faucets appear to be shut off. i have owned this place for 15 yrs. without this problem...thanks!

: T,
: I would check the toilet for leaks. The fill valve may be making noise as water goes past it.
