Don't you just hate it when they don't know the words and have to hum? There could be several reasons. One of the most common is a hose faucet that is not turned off and the antisiphon device makes the sound because the hose nozzle is also turned off. It could also be a pressure reducing device on the water line into the house. If it is not either of these causes then you may have to have a plumber come in and check all the faucets and toilets to see if one of them is the cause of the noise. : I need some advice. My upstairs bathroom pipes are now constantly humming a loud vibration. When I flush or turn on a faucet anywhere...it stops. Is this pressure. Please assist.
