I assume you will be using a mortar bed for the shower pan. You will want the mortar bed to be against the backerboard...so no more than 1/2" off the shower pan. : remodeling shower, (had shower pan leak) installing pvc shower pan liner. How close to the shower pan should the wonder board be installed.
