The major sound transmission is through the 2x4 studs and conventional insulation will not prevent that. If it is a major concern, then horizontal s acoustical strips fastened to the studs and the sheetrock screwed to them will eliminate a large amount of noise. Then installing insulation, and being certain that electrical boxes are not lined up in the two rooms should give the maximum sound attenuation. : I am converting our dining room into a large master bath. Our kitchen is on the other side of one of the walls in the bathroom and I'm looking to lessen the sound transference through the walls. : Does anyone have a suggestion for sound proofing? Is standard insulation the best thing to use? : Thanks
