Thanks for replying. No, the spring clip is there. As a matter of fact I just replaced it. When I move the plunger, the clip slides to the end and falls off, making me think it is too loose (the clip). I tightened clip before and it broke. Still working on it. Help is truly appreciated.

: From your description, it appears that the "U" shaped spring clip that attaches the clevis to the rod is missing, otherwise it would not slide off when you pull up on the rod.

: : In my bathroom sink there is a standard ball into rod into upright piece setup, attached by a clevis. When I pull the plunger to stop the sink from draining, the clevis slides right off. When I've tried adjusting it tighter, the plunger won't move up and down. I guess my problem is that I can't seem to get it just right. It's either too loose or too tight. Is there any easier way to adjust this. ANy help is greatly appreciated. I've been at this for a few months and no solution.
