Even changing the pipe diameters may not eliminate the problem. You need to install pressure balanced shower valves to prevent the unbalanced pressures that cause the temperature changes. : Hi Dave; : I moved into this fairly new house. When I'm taking a shower and my wife opens the hot water somewhere in the house, the water go cold. I asked a plummer regarding this problem. He told me that I need to increase the diameter of my cooper piping from 1/2" to 3/4". I never run out of hot water. My hot water source is an oil-fired loiler with a tankless water heater. Is anything I can do without guting the entire house to change the diameter of the pipe.
