: Terry, thanks for your response. The hot water temp has been erratic lately. Our gas water heater is about 8 years old. Is it worth trying to repair the relief valve as opposed to getting a new water heater?

At eight years, you are nearing the replacement range. Most tanks are between 6 and 12 years. It may be better to replace than repair.
