: Hi, I have one of those new outdoor faucets with the little green cap on top. Everytime I we turn on the water, it leaks from there. I'm told I need a new washer, but what type? How do I take off that green cap; it doesn't seem to unscrew? Do I need to turn the water off first? Thank you.

Sometimes the washer is just tipped. They make rebuild kits for the green cap faucets.
Most of the time, the green cap gets damaged when removed. Once it is off, you can unthread the fitting and get to the washer.
