I recently installed a Watts PET-5 thermal expansion tank to relieve excessive pressure buildup in my household
water system. I installed it vertically above the water line (tank opening at the bottom), an option described in the installation
instructions. My neighbor also had one installed. When he described my installation to the plumbing supply store thay told
him mine was installed wrong, and the tank must hang under the water line. They said the tank will fail prematurely the way
I installed it. The independent plumber that installed his tank told him exactly the same thing. I have seen numerous
installations like mine. Am I missing something here?
