: When it was installed they probably got plumber's putty in the threads and it will not come loose. Use a hacksaw to cut it off even with the bottom of the sink. : : I'm trying to replace a corroded kitchen sink basket but cannot remove the lock nut underneath. Have tried just about everything except cutting tools (including hammer/screwdriver against the tabs; large groove pliers on it while having the basket held in place on top; WD40 soaked overnight). : : Any other lubricant I can use to possibly loosen it? If not, how can I break it down (i.e., destroy it) without damaging the stainless steel sink? : : Stuck in Houston.... Glenn replies: Thanks for the help!
