Cast Iron toilet flange, 2" above finished floor

I am remodelling a bathroom and the toilet flange is very high. The reason being that a previous owner remodelled the room and installed tile on top of the old linolium floor. They put while mesh, then a thick layer of mortar and tile on top. The flage is 3-1/2 inches above the joists.

The new finished linolium floor will be about an inch. So the flange will protrude 2-1/2 inches!

Any suggestions? I've never cut cast iron before. How is the flange attached? They must have put this flnge on when they installed the tile floor.

Thanks!
Mike

I've gutted my bathroom down to the studs and joists.
