In response to Re: Sewer Replacement
I would have a cleanout installed where the pipe exits the house. That would be the easiest, cheapest, and proper place to install one, and at that point it should be fairly shallow.

: WE have a forty year old house on a slab (with cast iron sewer lines under the slab and clay lines outside the foundation)and we have some tree roots. We have had the line vidoed and there is NO collapse, but there are several seams where roots have come in. One joint has moved slightly out of line. I don't know if the line has ever been cleaned, but we had only one blockage in the last ten years.

: Since there is not clean out plug, the plumbing company suggests replacement with PVC (which would include a cleanout plug)

: MY question is whether this situation requires replacement or would yearly cleaning (even with 3" inch brush in 4" sewer line) and rootx treatment keep the problem under control?

: thanks....cspinks
