Re-Finishing Wood Pannels/Cabinets

I have a room with wood pannel, and wood cabinets in it. They have Mahagony finish. However, over the years, the finish has started looking dull old, and I would like to have someone re-finish it. (strip the old stain, and re-stain it) Most painters are telling me that they don't do this job. Is there a way to find people who will do this? I am in Washington DC area. How much (per sq ft etc.) should a job like this cost.
