: if you can feel it in the trap, you may be able to make a snare out of wire and grab the end of it. Or make a "J" hook out of 1/4" all thread rod and try to snag it an pull it back.

Hi j. gipson,
If the snake is broken off inside a floor drain it is probably only 3/16 or 1/2 inch, but of course it is laying on the floor of the drain pipe, and will be hard to snag. Most drain cleaning companies have an attachment they can add to a Roto Snake that they call a "Retriever". It looks like a corkscrew that has a funnel shape and the spring wire corkscrew traps the broken snake and then screws onto it in a clockwise direction, which makes a tight connection to enable pulling out the broken piece. : : Hello; I have broken snake inside a floor drain and I'm going to try to get it out soon the only option that I have is to break the floor to retreive it. The good news is that I can feel it in the trap but I can't see it. Thanks
